Once again, Ovie has shown himself to be a class act. After his 2nd goal of the night, a tie breaker in the 3rd period, Alexander the Great left his celebratory scrum and took the time to skate to the other end of the ice to show his gratitude to Varlamov for the young ‘un’s stellar performance throughout the game. When asked later what he said to Varly, he responded, “It was emotion time for us. I tell him thanks.” (from Tracee Hamiton’s WaPo column) No, this isn’t a funny quote, but we thought it was important to highlight yet another demonstration of the exceptional leadership and humility that is going to bring the Cup to DC this year. Thanks, Ovie!
